In many Eastern European countries, it is a tradition to have a basket of food blessed on Holy Saturday. This tradition dates back to 12th century Poland but has since been spread throughout Europe and North America. The food in the baskets varies for each family, but the three-part blessing specifically addresses meats, eggs, cake and breads.
Please join the Faith and Fellowship Committee at St. Peter Church at 1pm on Holy Saturday for a Special Blessing of your Easter Baskets! Children are welcome to bring their empty baskets to be blessed as well.
Immediately following the Basket Blessing, we will have an Easter Egg Hunt in West Park (right outside St. Peter Church)! All children are welcome to come and hunt for eggs and enjoy some light refreshments!
