Recently, our North Side communities have seen terrible acts of violence play out before our eyes. On Easter Sunday morning, two teenagers were killed in a shooting at a late-night party. Then, just last week a young man was killed in a shooting in broad daylight near Saint Peter's rectory. In addition, the violence of war continues to rage in Ukraine and the depth of division over issues such as abortion and political differences keep widening. As people of faith, we are to be witnesses to peace, life, and hope in the world, particularly through prayer and the example of our lives. Please invite friends and neighbors to join us for this hour of prayer, begging God to grant peace in our hearts, in our homes, in our communities, and in the world. This experience of prayer will include Scripture, music, intercessory prayers, and time for quiet reflection on how we can be pursuers of peace. May our coming together in prayer and praise show how willing we are to build each other up in peace, life, hope, and all the gifts God bestows on us.
