Today is the feast of Fatima. Actually, it is the anniversary of the first apparition of Our Blessed Mother to the children in Fatima. Here is a summary of what Our Blessed Mother said during the six months of visions.
She begins by telling us that through her prayers, she is holding back the hand of Jesus because He is very upset with the way we live as a whole in this world. She is here to help us change our lives through her messages. Her messages are simple in reality.
Her messages state: First change our lives by asking pardon for our sins, and living the message Jesus and the Bible teach. She continues, that if we do not, there will be wars. Wars are not sent by God but allowed to happen because we are not living the Gospel message of love for others and for God.
Our sins of the Flesh offend God the most and to reform our lives if we are mixed up in them, which goes along with immodest fashions that flaunt the flesh. Our Blessed Mother informs us that many marriages are sinful and are hurting the Lord.
A marriage is a reflection of Christ and the Church and also a reflection of the Trinity. When they are lived out with fighting, selfishness, bickering, or not a sacrament such as just living together or marriage by a civil authority, or engaging in the sexual act before the vow, this hurts the domestic church, which hurts the church and marriages must be upheld and holy.
The Blessed Mother then moves into how to help, the solutions. She tells us that the Daily Rosary is most important after the Eucharist. The daily rosary is bringing alive in our minds and hearts the highest point of Scriptures.
Reflecting on the life of Jesus as we repeat the most awesome event of the Angel Gabriel coming to Our Blessed Mother and Jesus being conceived in the womb, the beginning of His salvation for us.
She explains that with that we must have a devotion to her Immaculate Heart. An Immaculate heart is a reflection of the Sacred Heart of Jesus alive in us. Our Blessed Mother lived an Immaculate Heart. With a devotion to her heart, we can reflect Jesus’ heart.
One of the best ways to follow through with these devotions to the Eucharist and the rosary is to do the first Saturdays, which we have here at the parish (when there is no coronavirus).
Our Blessed Mother tells us this will lead to world peace. We should not be surprised. In the beginning, God created us, Adam and Eve, and left humans in charge of the world. Their sin disordered all creation by lack of care of love. Since then, every good act restores order while every sin adds to disorder.
Today, we hear about the vine and the branches. Jesus is the vine and He says we are the branches. Mary is the one part of the plant that is perfectly united to the vine and healthily alive.
Through her, if we attach our branch to her through these messages and putting them into practice, we too will be connected to Jesus forever. We will be living out our responsibility to take care of the world and we will be helping to bring the peace Jesus desires.
