The first reading is an awesome Vision that Ezekiel had. It is a vision of water flowing from the right side of the sanctuary Facing East.
Interestingly, since the earliest days of the church, churches were built Facing East in the same manner of the Jewish temple. All Sanctuaries should have a crucifix in the center or at some point of focus. When we look upon the sanctuary and we see Jesus wound that pierced His heart with the lance, we see that blood and water flowed from its side which is the right side of Jesus and the right side of the sanctuary. Ezekiel asked to Wade through it.
As he did it got higher and higher until it got too high for him to Wade through it. The water flowing from Jesus’ side is a symbol of the sacrament of baptism and the Graces that God gives us through Jesus's death. This is the image of what Jesus does for us. He died for us and His graces flow from him through the sacraments, beginning with baptism, creating a river of Grace for us to have eternal life and perfect food. Turning sin which is death into life in abundance.
In the gospel after the man was cured Jesus says do not sin so that's something else worse may not happen to you. In our Modern English we tend to think of this in terms of sin causing physical or health problems, but what Jesus means, is that sin hurts our soul which is worse than any physical health problem.
The water flowing from the sanctuary, from the side of Jesus, can wash us of all sin, and give us life. Take advantage of that Grace flowing like a river and rising higher and higher with each sacrament received, especially Confession and Eucharist, so that we can be cleansed of our sins like the man in the gospel and be assured that nothing worse can happen to our soul.
In this way, the Graces of Jesus will flow to us and through us and in us and we will allow that River of Grace to water us giving us food for eternal life and helping us to be life-giving food for others.
