Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist

June 24, 2020Today we celebrate St. John the Baptist Birthday. John is known for his famous saying of Jesus, “He must increase and I must decrease.”
Coincidentally we celebrate His birthday on the day when the daylight is beginning to decrease after the first day of summer. Jesus’ birth is when the daylight begins to increase after the first day of winter.
This is a great prayer for all of us to pray often. This prayer helps us take the focus off of ourselves and do all things for God and for others. Pray intensely, “He must increase and I must decrease” and become a saint like John the Baptist.
This is my last reflection, I will pray for you all as I move on to my next assignment, please pray for me. Fr Tony
